Province and surrounding areas:
If you’d like to spend some time outside of Ávila there are several options close by with historical, architectural and natural appeal. Here are our suggestions.
Of course, Gredos is one of our top recommendations in the province; it’s a spectacular natural park with lakes, gorges, cirques, cliffs and Los Galayos. It is the natural habit of the Spanish ibex. In the Central System, which separates the Duero and Tajo rivers like a granite wall, the Sierra de Gredos was carved by glacial erosion which formed the Cirque and the lake Laguna Grande de Gredos, dominated by the graceful Pico Almanzor. At 2,592 meters, it’s the tallest peak in the Central System.
